COMPANY D—81ST INDIANA—MUSTER ROLLS

The Officers and Men of Company D, 81st Indiana mustered into the Regiment August 29, 1862. This company
was composed entirely of men from Scott County, Indiana.

 

Capt Weston C. Finley - Age 39; Company Commander; resigned Dec 23/62, disability, hemoptrisis, bleeding lungs.
1st Lt Robert F. Gordon - Age 24; later Company Commander, promoted Captain; wounded at Jonesboro, Ga Sep 1/64; served full term; mustered out Jun 13/65.
2nd Lt Ebenezer Gordon - Age 21; later promoted 1st Lt; wounded, captured at Chickamauga, Ga Sep 20/63; escaped from prison Nov 4/64; served full term; mustered out Jun 13/65.
1st Lt Joseph Seacat - Age 20; Sgt Company H at muster-in; later promoted 1st Lt; Commanded Company D Sep 13/64 to Jun 1/65.
1st Sgt Andrew J. Trulock - Age 22; wounded, taken prisoner at Chickamauga, Ga Sep 20/63; died of smallpox at Danville Prison, Va Jan 11/64.
2nd Sgt Felix T. Monroe - Age 28; later promoted 1st Sgt; wounded, captured at Stones River, Tenn Dec 31/62; exchanged at Annapolis, Md Feb/63; discharged, disability because of wounds May 5/63.

3rd Sgt Harvey M. Nixon - Age 22; died of typhoid fever at Nashville, Tenn Apr 10/63.
4th Sgt Emory E. Nixon - Age 22; later reduced to Pvt; died of illness at Nashville, Tenn.
5th Sgt James G. Barratt - Age 25; later promoted 1st Sgt; captured at Stones River, Tenn Dec 31/62; exchanged at Annapolis, Md Feb/63; killed in action near Atlanta, Ga Aug 26/64.
1st Corp William H. Hughes - Age 24; wounded, captured at Stones River, Tenn Dec 31/62; exchanged at Annapolis, Md Feb/63; captured at Resaca, Ga May 14/64; died at Andersonville Prison, Ga Sep 7/64.
2nd Corp Robert Jones - Age 22; later promoted Sgt; served full term; mustered out Jun 13/65.
3rd Corp Parker M. Trulock - Age 39; wounded in side at Stones River; later promoted Sgt; died of chronic diarrhea at Nashville, Tenn Jun 10/63.
4th Corp Adam Reynolds - Age 29; blacksmith; discharged, disability, sickness, at Gallatin, Tenn Mar 9/63.
5th Corp Samuel R. Cade - Age 39.
6th Corp Alexander Ardrey (Autry) - Age 29; later reduced to Pvt; deserted near Nashville, Tenn Dec 16/62; application for honorable discharge denied Jun 13/88.
7th Corp Peter H. Wirt - Age 20.
8th Corp Joel Gossage - Age 23; farmer; born Russell County, Ky; died of chronic diarrhea Apr 29/63.
